Time to get started on this topic. Take a few moments to read every aspect of this paper hopefully it will be of great help. The term Acupuncture is a combining of two Latin words 'acus' which means needle and 'pungere' means prick. It is in truth an ancient Chinese medical process in which needles were inserted into patient along some well-defined meridian points. In ancient China, stone needles were exploited for the treatment; then as metals were revealed subsequently needle were made of bronze, silver and even gold. In modern days, needles are made of stainless steel.
Acupuncture points are most crucial part of Acupuncture therapy. These are really the various stimulation points from various body parts. According to ancient theory; all these points have a direct access to stimulate the meridians, which are imaginary channels from where critical energy flows. There are more than 360 input points; when needles are inserted or someway stimulation of these points is done then it either interrupts or stimulates the energy flow.
This interruption or stimulation of points can cause analgesic effect that will cut down or totally eliminate pain. It can even suffer a more strong energy flow which can cure the various health problems. All these Acupuncture points are mapped to Fourteen major meridian lines, for group Twelve inner organs one meridian; one meridian along the spine which is known as governing vessel and one more along the midline of abdomen which is named as conception vessel. The measure that is exploited to find Acupuncture points is named "Cun". Generally one Cun is equal to space between the distal interphalangeal joint and proximal interphalangeal joint on middle finger.
All these Acupuncture points are categorised as per their functions. First category of such Acupuncture points is Five transporting points system: This system explains the flow of vitality (which named as 'qi' in Chinese) exploitation analogy of rivers and points are described as points along the flow line.
According to this system; "qi' bubbles up from a spring and step by step grows in depth and breadth like a river fluent down from mountain to the ocean".In this five transporting system there are points;* Jing well points are the points that bring about energy flow when it bubbles up; these points are placed on tips of fingers and toes.* Ying spring points are where the energy river glides down the channel, these points indicate heat of the body and they also show the changes in our complexion.
* Shu stream; these points indicate heaviness of body along with afflictive areas in joints and intermittent diseases.* Jing river points give indication of cough and dyspnoea, fever and chills and foe bone diseases.* He sea points are where qi unites and heads deeper into the body; these points are useful for indicating diarrhea. The counter flow of qi and these points also indicates the disorders caused by irregular feeding and drinking.
Along with Five transporting points, there are some other sets of points like five phase points, Eleven cleft points, Yuan source points, Luo connecting points, Back shu points, front Mu points, Hue meeting points. Acupuncture treatment is successfully exploited to treat ear, nose and throat disorders, and then respiratory disorders.

Owww! My big toe hurts ALOT when I go up on point, any suggestions?
I've tried thick toe pads, thin toe pads, little foam cushions and bandaids! Any suggestions? It feels like my big toe is being squished alot, it hurts more than it should... Please help...
And how do I go over on my second toe and not my first? My 2nd one is shorter, and doesnt reach the tip of the box... Help?
I'd have to look at your feet and your shoes to give you a definite answer. Here are some thoughts:
*Ingrown toenail....as already suggested. This is a problem that many dancers have.
*Your pointe shoes do not fit properly. If you were not fitted successfully this may be the problem. Unfortunately you may have to try a different pair of pointe shoes.
*When en pointe you may be pushing too much over your big toe and not standing evenly on your box. Ask your teacher to check when you are en pointe to see if this is a problem.
*you may just be rubbing blisters. This is a necessary part of it. You need blisters in order to form callouses.
Talk it over with your ballet teacher and have her look at your feet and shoes and watch you when you dance and maybe she will be able to help you find the real problem. Good luck!

You can get the sexy stomach you have been dreaming about without even a crunch. Probably you are asking yourself "how could this possibly happen? I must do crunches in order to get a flat stomach." Wrong! There are 5 central strategies that will make your stomach lean and flat.
1- STOP being obsessed with crunches
Your abs are not made to flex which is what they do when you do crunches, so basically they are useless. Your abs are made to stabilize your entire body while walking, running, sitting down, and therefore they should be trained as such. Even when you do lunges (which are great lower body exercises) your abs are working to stabilize you. For example if you put your hands over your head while doing lunges you would realize that you could lunge even better. What does this tell us? It tells us that during all these standing types of movements, pushup positions or similar movements, your abs are definitely working the entire time to make sure that your body is stabilized in the specific position. Therefore these are the main exercises you should be doing but not the basic crunch.
2 - Work on the principle of muscle overload
What do I mean by that? I mean that if you are lifting weights or doing body weight exercises and you feel like you can do 25-35 raps at once with the same weight then your muscles are not working hard enough. You should be definitely struggling a little bit with your weight training at the end of each set. With another words, add some more weight. If you are used to hold 5 pound (2.2 kg) dumbbells every time you are doing presses and you can do 20 or 30 raps without breaking a sweat, then you would never be able to build lean muscles. What you need to do is to consistently and constantly add weight to your routine. For example if you are doing pushups and they get too easy, then you have to make sure that you make it harder on yourself. One method of making it harder while doing pushups is to put your feet on a bench; this would make the pushups definitely more challenging. You should never let your routine get too easy, but if it does, then you have to make it more difficult right away.
3- Cardio training needs to be challenging as well
Interval training is one way to do your cardio more challenging. I am sure that everyone has seen people in the gym walking on the treadmill with 3 miles per hour or so and at the same time watching a show on the TV. This is a perfect example of what you should not be doing if you want to experience any positive changes. You need to do interval training where you vary the challenge of your cardiovascular routine. Running intense for 2 minutes, walking for 1 minute and going back and forth is a great way to increase your heart pulse and sweat a lot.
4- Your diet is really where the abs are made
You MUST watch your diet; you MUST watch what you eat. I am not a big fan of counting calories although I tried a few times in the past and trust me, it did not work out very well. My tip to you is to count ingredients. Look at the ingredients on the food label, it can be even better if the food does not have any label (like fresh fruits and vegetables), then you know for sure that what you eat is healthy and you should not worry about any calories or fats. If it is a boxed food maybe you are in a bit of trouble because the food is usually processed with a lot of junk in there. Try to eat food with as fewer ingredients as possible.
5- Get a support community
My fifth tip to you is to get a support community. If you feel like it is very hard to do all this by yourself, you should consider joining a team, a class, a blog, a forum online, or simply find a workout partner. The most important is that you find a positive person with the same or similar interest. Trust me, you can go far if you have somebody next to you who would encourage you and cheer you every time you try to give up.
Now what you need to do is to take these 5 essential tips and implement them in order to start seeing results and enjoying your flat stomach.

I'm auditioning for a runway model position, but I have flat feet and walking on runway is difficult.?
Are there any other flat footed models out there; am I just nervous or does having flat feet really put you at a disadvantage? Should I try some arch support insoles, would they maker a noticeable difference?
It depends on the level of modeling to which you aspire, At the top, anything, even the slightest defect is a disadvantage and disqualifies you. At lower levels, style, panache, ability to be attractive (you have to have a certain minimal appeal--be tall and graceful) and to present yourself confidently are more important than details that would count in more professional venues.

Atlantic City is known as a city located in New Jersey's seaside. Apart from Las Vegas, it is considered as a famous destination for casino lovers. This is since gambling in casinos has been legalized in this particular city. Moreover, prior to being another gambling destination, Atlantic City in New Jersey is a well loved location for its entertainment venues and amazing beaches.
According to records, tourism has always been the main focus of Atlantic City. In fact, during the 19th century, the rise of this city started after a track was built by railroad companies between Philadelphia and the Island of Absecon. Ever since, the city thrived as a resort hot spot. It only took a fall within near the early 20th century. It was only during the year 1978 that Atlantic City began to become popular again due to gambling and the legalization of casinos.

Triathlon training is a funny thing in that pain management is a priority for all Triathletes. I can’t think of a sport where pain is such an integral part of the training process. Hopefully endurance athletes can learn a little bit from my suffering.
At the same time I was experiencing knee pain I was also experiencing ankle pain. It took a little longer to figure out why but eventually I resolved these issues with a little research and a lot of trial and error.
Ankle problems for runners are most likely caused by the shoes they wear. Older shoes that have seen a few too many miles are no longer doing the trick and unfortunately it is time for a new pair. This is always the first thing to try when experiencing ankle pain. I don’t change my shoes often enough and usually experience a little suffering before taking my own advice. When I finally listen to my advice it has always fixed my issues. However, there are some additional things to consider if the shoes you wear are relatively new and you are confident that the shoes are not the issue.
If you experience the pain some days and not others, then the route may have something to do with it. The route you choose can impact your lower joints differently. Roads and paths are sloped for drainage. Different roads and different paths will have different sloping and obviously if you run in different directions or take a different path the slope would also impact you differently.
Watch out for changes in your form. You will likely be experiencing form changes if you are running at high intensity or low intensity. If you are running at low intensity, in all likelihood you will do one of two things differently. You may bounce more or you may become a heel striker instead of a mid foot striker when you run faster.
Generally when we run at a slow pace we control our forward momentum by hitting our heel to the ground fist, role to our mid-foot and then push off our toes. If we want to go quicker, we lean a bit forward, land mid-foot and push off our toes, and if we are sprinting we land on our fore foot and push off our toes. If you continually jam your heel into the ground for an hour it will affect all of your lower body, especially any of the joints below the waist including the ankles.
The other option is that you bounce. In order to slow down you try and keep everything the same but the one thing you change is that you have more vertical movement, at a faster pace it is about keeping up the intensity, so you stay more efficient, don't bounce and keep your movement more horizontal.
It is important to maintain form while running regardless of the level of intensity. You never want to be a heel striker, always a mid-foot striker. Keep your head level and float from foot strike to foot strike. One rule of thumb that has worked well for me is becoming a silent runner. I try to sneak up to people I pass so that they don’t hear me coming. The point of this is simply because I know that if I manage to stay silent, I know that the impact on my feet is lessened and I am likely running more smoothly and more efficiently plus if I am thinking about it then I am thinking about my form which is the most important thing of all to focus on.

I am a triathlete that spends a lot of time researching and trying to understand why things happen to us during training and how to modify what we do to become better at it and improve ourselves. My focus is typically on training, nutrition and the psychology behind triathlons.
Is it normal to have trouble moving my toes after an ankle sprain?
I twisted my ankle yesterday and though there's minimal swelling, it hurts to walk on it or move it. It also hurts a lot to move my big toe, and I can barely move my little one--is this normal?
yes this is normal
it should be gone away in a couple months

We all know that we need to train and exercise more than we do. All the reports that we read tell us that we now have more leisure time on our hands than ever before but yet we all seem to be busier.
Only the same day last week I read a report saying that we had more leisure time than ever before and also that we are working longer hours than ever before, maybe we've started using a 30 hour clock? Either way we need to keep in shape. As we get older our bodies need to work harder to achieve the same results but how do we achieve the fine balance between training harder and not injuring ourselves?
Depending on what training you enjoy doing to keep fit you should always listen to your body, it's easy to throw yourself head long into a training plan for three months ignoring all the little muscle twinges and tweaks until one day you pull a muscle and you're laid up for a month, in this time all of your hard work will be undone. Sensible training involves eating and drinking correctly. To achieve your maximum when training you should try to eat five or maybe six small meals a day, this will fuel your body with a steady stream of energy and minimize the risk of having energy highs and lows throughout the day.
We've all had that feeling of looking forward to training and then 3 hours later whilst sat at your desk you feel like death warmed up and the idea of training fills you full of terror, this is energy low and is easily managed if you eat correctly. Ensuring that you eat the correct food is also important, five hamburgers spread throughout the day will do you no good at all, yet eating a balanced diet of carbohydrates, protein, fibre and good fats (such as nuts) will keep you on top form all day. It's as important to make sure that you are properly hydrated to ensure best results when training, being de-hydrated will sap your energy very quickly.
Always carry a drinks bottle with you when you train, even if you are doing a weights session. You are more likely to think about having a drink if you've got a full drinks bottle with you at all times. You should always try to warm up and cool down after a training session. I try to spend ten good minutes relaxing and stretching my muscles before I plough head long into a training session.
Some of you may think ten minutes is excessive but you'll get better results from your sports training if you do this and you will also spend less time on the couch recovering from pulled or strained muscles. Cooling down is one of my favourite parts of my training, I use it to reflect on what I've achieved in the session and look forward to what I hope to do in the next session, all this while I'm relaxing my body and getting the flow of blood and oxygen back to the muscles.
Different workouts require different warm ups and cool downs, be sure to pick one that suits your training.
A simple mistake to make when training is not wearing the correct trainers or wearing worn out trainers. In theory you should get about 500 miles out of a pair of trainers but that depends on a few factors such as; indoor or outdoor training, type of trainer, do you have a neutral gait, Pronation or Supenation when you walk.
The trick with trainers is that if they look old and warn out then they probably are and it's time to get a new pair. Training of any type creates strain on legs, feet and ankles so it's important to get good training shoes, quality trainers soak up some of the shock of training but the benefit diminishes as the trainer's age I always advise that people need to remember that their shoes have a limited shelf life.
Before you go to get a new pair of Nike trainers take a close look at the back of them, are they warn down more on one side of the trainer than the other? The answer is probably yes, if so you may be wise to go to a trainer outlet than will measure your gait to see if you are putting un-necessary strain on your body by the way you walk or run.
I'd always recommend taking your old pair down to the store with you so that the qualified specialists can diagnose any problems for you. These specialist trainer outlets may fit your new Nike trainers with a special insole that will correctly balance your gait, hopefully helping to reduce injuries.
Always be sure to buy the correct type of Nike trainers for the type of training you do.
Different exercises require Nike trainers with different features, more flexible for running, trainers that are not designed for running may have overly rigid soles which will greatly increase the risk of injury, sides that reduce twisting when on en-even surfaces reducing the risk of a strain or a general medium flexing light weight cross trainer.
While there is no guarantee that a new pair of trainers will enhance performance, they can certainly help prevent injury and discomfort. Very few people are aware of the risks inappropriate training shoes present, and are running in trainers which are really only suitable for general leisurewear. I cringe when I see people at the gym running on a treadmill wearing leisure wear shoes.
So if you want to stay fit and healthy and enjoy your training ensure you eat and drink correctly, warm up and cool down properly and always make sure you have the right footwear for the training you are doing, follow these points and you will help yourself stay fit and injury free.
You may not always agree with my writings but I hope to inform.

I am looking to get a pair of shoes for training that will help getting my speed up?
I am looking to get a pair of shoes for training that will help getting my speed up?
I heard of a few types of shoes that you can where that will help you gain speed. Like one has a pad by the balls of your feet that help you learn to run on your toes and works out muscles that are vital for fast running
It's not the special shoes that give you muscles, or speed. it's how you train. Shoes that claim to do that are a bunch of bs. The only way to gain speed is by working for it, not the shoes man. I know some GREAT shoes for training, i absolutely love them. they are extremely comfortable, and very durable. Here they are:
