Black Hair Basics

The typical hair and hair follicles of those of African descent are tightly curled, thus producing hair that spirals. Black hair also typically has a larger diameter than Caucasian hair and retains less water, thus its relative “kinkiness.†The many styling methods utilized on Black hair cause concern with hair loss. Black hair is very strong, fortunately so because Black hair styles cause a great deal of stress on the hair and scalp.

Find Out 100s Of Great TIPS For-------->black hair care

For example, using a hair pick to pick the hair up to a bushy style is a very damaging process due to the constant pulling causing stress on the hair shaft as well as the follicle. In fact, combing Black hair in general can create high stress on Black hair and cause breakage, which perpetuates dryness. Conrowing and braiding are methods of hairstyling that pull the hair tight, and this can cause a great deal of stress on the hair and scalp resulting in hair loss. Braiding that results in the hair being pulled very tight can cause traumatic alopecia, a hair loss that is caused by trauma to the hair and scalp. Traumatic alopecia is usually reversible with proper hair care.

Hot combs and relaxers used to straighten hair can cause a great deal of heat and chemical damage to hair and scalp, which can also cause traumatic alopecia, and over time can cause permanent hair loss. This becomes especially true when the heat or chemically processed hair is pulled tight by rollers or a hot curling iron.

Hot oil conditioners are excellent for Black hair, as hot oil treatments contain proteins and polymers vital to repairing the hair cuticles. Hot oil treatments involve heating the oil and putting it into the hair and scalp, then covering the hair with a plastic cap to allow the oil to soak in. Follow the recommendations on the treatment you are using for the amount of time you should leave the treatment on the hair. This process can heal breakages and shinier stronger hair will be the result.

Consider that hair relaxers commonly used on Black hair contain lye or similar chemicals that break down the hair shaft. Left on beyond the recommended time, these chemicals would eat right through the hair and cause it to fall out in clumps. This is why these same products are used in products like Drano® to clean clogged drains which often are clogged by hair. No-lye relaxers are very popular today, mainly because it leads people to believe that the product is not caustic. This is far from the truth. The combination of calcium hydroxide and guanidine carbonate are combined to form guanidine hydroxide, which could just as easily clean a sink. Repeated use of such products can cause some degree of hair loss, and if scarring occurs while using these chemicals, the hair loss can be permanent in that area of the scalp. One must ask themselves is it wise to place such caustic chemicals in the hair on a regular basis for the sake of desired appearance? The question must be answered by each individual, however the facts should be known.

There is little that can be done to alleviate this syndrome without changing the typical hairstyles of African Americans. There is a catch-22 concerning relaxing Black hair, since combing natural Black hair causes so much stress and breakage of hair, while chemicals cause so much harm to the hair and scalp as well. There are a few hair-relaxing products on the market that use chemicals and are somewhat less harsh than sodium hydroxide (lye) or its popular equivalent in “no-lye†relaxers: calcium hydroxide (quicklime) mixed with guanidine carbonate. One such product is called Natural-Laxer® and Sahara Clay® by Baka ProductsTM that has been on the market since 1990. This product is all natural and because it does not contain many of the harsh chemicals of commercial relaxers and actually contains only a finely ground plant called Daphne Gnidium and clay from Africa it is figured to be relatively safe. Of course this product does not straighten hair in most instances the same way as commercial relaxers, however it does tend to make Black hair more manageable. There is yet another product on the market that is reported to be 92-96% natural which is called Naturalaxer Kit In A Jar™ that does not require the applicant to comb through the hair during the application, which results in a lot less damage.

Of course the bottom line is once again, if you can leave your hair in its natural state then you will experience less stress and damage to the hair and thus prevent at least one cause of hair loss. There is a growing segment of the Black population that is becoming comfortable with wearing their hair in natural styles. One such style is dreadlocks. There are many rumors and myths concerning dreadlocks, as there is little proper information available concerning this style, and as with anything that is misunderstood many myths arise around it. Dreadlocks can and must be washed; otherwise they will smell badly like any other dirty hair. The best process to use to wash dreadlocks is to use a residue-free shampoo. Most commercially made shampoos leave residue and can cause hair not to lock, lending fuel to the rumor that hair had to be dirty to form dreadlocks. Clean hair actually locks much better than dirty hair, as dirt is a residue in itself that will inhibit hair from locking. For best results one should use a fragrance free, conditioner free shampoo. Dreadlocks do not react well to oily and greasy substances, yet there are many good substances that are on the market today that will assist you in forming dreadlocks.

Dreadlocks are formed through a process, not simply by not combing or brushing the hair. Generally, one should start with hair about two inches in length, and the hair should be separated into even squares of hair and twisted gently together using a bonding or gel substance. Many use natural beeswax containing no petroleum, while others use loc and twist gels specifically formulated for locks. Once the hair is separated and twisted into small locks, it is important that they are left alone and allowed to bond naturally. The length of time it will take to lock will depend on the coarseness of your hair, but one can normally expect to wait several months before locks begin to form. While the hair is locking, it will need to be washed. Here is where washing should be extended for a while if possible, so that the hair can be allowed to lock for two weeks to about a month without manipulation. When you do wash your hair, use a stocking cap or “do-ragâ€, and low-pressure water to make sure that the newly forming locks do not come loose. It will be necessary to rinse for a much longer time than you normally do, because of the lower pressure of the water and the lack of direct manipulation of your hair with your hands. The water is good for your hair and locking process, so this is not a problem. It is also imperative as indicated before that you use a shampoo that does not contain a conditioner and leaves as little residue as possible. A little research on your

part will be necessary here; your health food store should contain a variety of natural shampoos. Have a skilled professional or a friend re-twist the hair gently, reapplying the twist gel or beeswax that you used previously. Repeat this process every two weeks to a month, the longer you are able to wait the better, and within a few months your hair will begin to lock. Again, if you have a fine grade of hair rather than a kinky grade of hair, a beautician skilled at forming locks (“locktitianâ€) or a friend who is very familiar with the hairstyle should be consulted. Even though dreadlocks are mainly a hairstyle for Blacks, there are other races that have people that enjoy the hairstyle. In general, it tends to be a style of hair that in the long run will give the hair and scalp needed rest from the rigors of chemical and heat treatments and rigorous combing and brushing, and therefore can contribute to longer life for your hair.

How can I get rid and prevent black head (clogged pores)?

I rarely ever have issues with acne, I may get an occasional pimple during my cycle but it's the clogged pores I fight with, on my nose and chin...any suggestions!

The confusion over blackheads and whiteheads has to do with the fact that blackheads accompany oily skin where whiteheads could be present on oily or dry skin.

A blackhead is caused by excess oil that has clogged a pore. When the pore is open, the oil is exposed to oxygen, which reacts and turns it a dark color, resulting in a black head.

The whiteheads are trapped bacterial or dirt in the skin which white blood cells have attacked and tried bring to the surface.

Hormones are the leading cause of increased oil production. The next big culprit in blackhead formation is the use of skin-care products or make-up.

Avoid using creamy, greasy, and thick (emollient) products.

Use a gentle and water-soluble acne cleanser. Don't use normal bar soap which just dries the skin and clogs the pores more. Also note that excess moisturizers in soaps can cause an increase in oil on your skin.

Exfoliate to eliminate dead skin cells. Use a mild scrub or to remove any dead cells and expose the blackhead.

Using pore strips to remove blackheads is not recommended as it's temporary and normally creates more breakouts.

I recommend using an oil-free acne wash and gently scrub your face every 1 to 2 days. Wash your hands before and afterward and avoid touching the face at other times. Due to the shape of the nose and chin it's normally the worst breakout area and it's the mostly touched to get bacterial and dirt.

Modern Fashion Trends In Slip-Ons

Footwear is one of the best ways to make a fashion statement. There are the boots and covered shoes, but the most popular among women are the slip on varieties as they go well with the ceremonial and festive clothing. So get your choicest footwear according to the style you like when you go for the slip-ons. You have the maximum varieties in there too. You can choose from the latest slippers, high heel sandals, mojaris, etc. and also get special embroidered and embellished slippers and mojaris to fit your style. So if you are looking for the classic or the casual or the trendy or the traditional and all that you can think of, you will never get disappointed with the options in the slip-ons.

Slip-ons are not only in great demand, they come in a variety of designs and colors and styles. Moreover, the cost of the slip-ons is not that great and anybody can easily have more than one in their collection. The colors of such slip-ons are very attractive and you can get matching colors with every color of attire you have. The slip-ons come in various styles. You can get the red embroidered slip-ons or similarly get the beige or brown embroidered ones. The designs vary from the floral to the geometric and the craftsmanship can be only termed exquisite. The flower print footwear or the flat printed shoes are quite popular. The slip-ons embellished with crystals, beads and pearls are hot favorites.

The slip-on Indian shoes are mainly of three types. You have the flat and padded soled footwear and they usually come with covered toes but open at the heels. This gives the ease of wearing them. Then there are the slip-on pumps. These are often richly embroidered and have very pointed toes, low sides and closed heel. This group of shoes includes the traditional embroidered mojaris, a hit for all important occasions. The last of all is a bit detailed design but is no less favorite than the other slip-ons. These designs are the innovations on the existing open heel and closed heel varieties

Getting these Indian shoes is not that difficult. If you do not get them at the stores, you can easily log in to indifootwear.com and get the requisite details. With such online stores, it is no more difficult to buy online women's footwear from India. You can even get guidelines as how to measure your feet so that the company can send the right size. Buying slip-ons does not mean buying flat and low heels only. Such slip-ons also include the trendy platform heels and the high heel sandals.

Interestingly, you will not only get the shoes made from the softest handcrafted leather but also the latest jute shoes, comfortable Indian spring shoes, etc. the group also includes the traditional Indian slippers. They too, like the slip-ons, come in various shapes, styles and color. There are the fancy slippers and the casual slippers and all the slippers you can think of. They make great accessories to the party dresses also.

My feet ALWAYS slip forward in heels! What do I do about it?

This is driving me crazy and I feel like maybe I should just stop trying. I've been trying on platforms, heels, even Kitten heels and my feet are always slipping forward and hitting my toes on the end of the shoe, or diggin my feet into the straps if it's a sandal-like shoe. I've tried putting my weight on the ball of my foot, and on the heel of my foot, and I am still slipping. I've tried those stupid "no slip" inserts. Could it possibly be the shape of my foot?
Tried those :|

Well, if you are experiencing the same issue no matter what type of shoe you wear, its most likely the shape of your foot. Unfortunately, the shoe manufacturers cater to the majority who don't have this problem :) I know I have wide feet and its hard to find cute heels that will fit.

What about some mules ? See if you have the same problem with those. I found these at Target - and they are pretty reasonable and soooo cute !!!

http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_3/602-4685373-8493446?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000JJL8QW

Try something like that. Maybe those might help. Just the fact that they are open toed might make the difference :) Good luck !!!

Non Pore Clogging Moisturizer –Ingredients You Should Avoid and What You Should Use

Using the wrong products cause many skin problems. You should be using non pore clogging moisturizer for all types of skin – oily or dry.

If your pores get clogged your skin won’t breathe properly. Toxins in our body are partly removed through our skin, and if pores are closed the toxins won’t be able to escape. This will cause many skin problems, including acne and blackheads.

If the facial moisturizer you are using has mineral oil on the label it is not a non pore clogging moisturizer. Mineral oil coats the skin to keep in moisture, but this is not a good thing, because it also
builds up under the skin and prevents nourishing vitamins and minerals from helping us have the healthy skin we desire. Read the labels and stay from mineral oil in products.

Liquid paraffin or paraffin wax is another ingredient often listed on labels of skin care moisturizers. These can strip the natural oils from the skin, which causes chapping, dryness and other early signs of aging.

My mother is in a nursing home and has a lot of problems with dry skin. I noticed the other day one of the products the home had for her to hydrate her skin contained petrolatum. This is a petroleum-based product that should not be used on the skin. It will interfere with the skin’s ability to eliminate toxins just like mineral oil does. I quickly removed this from her room, and exchanged it for a healthy product for her to use.

Product ingredients that are safer and more useful if you are looking for a non pore clogging moisturizer are:

· Macadamia Oil – This oil absorbs into the skin without being greasy. It will restore any moisture your skin loses as you do your day-to-day activities.
· Active Manuka Honey - You might argue that this can’t possible be a non pore clogging moisturizer when you think of this sticky substance. But honey used in skin care products is dried and then added to creams or lotions. You’ll find active manuka honey a great moisturizer leaving your skin soft and smooth.
· CynergyTK - A wonderful moisturizer that won’t clog your pores. It also has the ability to stimulate your body to produce more collagen and elastin, which is needed to eliminate wrinkles and fine lines. Along with hydrating all layers of your skin it will also solve the wrinkle problem we get as we age.

If you are interested in finding out more about non pore clogging moisturizer, check out my website. You’ll find lots of good information about what products to use on your skin and what products to avoid.

What is the difference between water clog and croc's shoes?

Are the water clog shoes more comfortable than the croc shoes? Is the price difference worth it since the Crocs are much more expensive?

Anything that isn't Crocs is a knock-off and won't be as good as the original upon which they are copying. Crocs are more expensive, but that is because they do it right. And since when is $50 or less expensive for shoes? Air Jordans are like $100 a pair. For what you are getting, they are a steal.

Clarks Shoes Offer Diverse Footwear Styles for Men

Finding a brand of shoes for men that offers both style and versatility sometimes seems like an impossible task. So many shoe brands are able to do one specific type of shoe well, but seem to stumble when they attempt to branch out into other designs. If you are in the market for a single brand of shoes that will be able to meet all of your footwear needs, you will be pleased to know that Clarks shoes has overcome that barrier which seems to define a company by a single type of shoe; when you buy Clarks shoes you will be able to find amazing shoes that will meet all of your needs regardless of whether you are looking for dress shoes, something sporty, or something a bit more casual.

If you are in the market for dress shoes, you will find that Clarks dress shoes are beyond compare. With a number of different styles and colors available you should have no trouble finding exactly the right shoe to meet your dress needs, regardless of where you are going to be wearing the shoes. Styles like the Barrons feature rich leather uppers that require no breaking in to be comfortable, while the leather-covered latex footbed helps to make sure that your every step is properly cushioned. Only the finest materials go in to the manufacture of Clarks dress shoes, helping to make sure that you are going to look great and be more comfortable than you ever thought you would be in a dress shoe.

When the time comes to relax, you might consider slipping into one of Clarks many loafers or casual shoes to help yourself unwind. The loafers that Clarks makes feature the same amazing workmanship and fine materials that go into their dress shoes but have a more relaxed fit so that you will not have to worry about having them tied perfectly to know that you look good.

Popular loafer styles such as the Escalade feature rich leather uppers for a comfortable fit, amazing detail stitching to help keep you looking your best, and insoles made of fine mesh materials covered in soft leather in order to keep you comfortable and absorb any rough steps that might come your way. Though the loafers and casual shoes are designed for a soft fit, the polyurethane soles will still make sure that you have a firm grip on the ground with every step that you take.

Should you be looking for a good sneaker or sports shoe, Clarks has you covered here as well. Shoes such as their Bradenton sneaker look great and provide you with plenty of foot and ankle support, helping you to avoid injury while still keeping you looking your best while in the game.

Like Clarks’ other offerings, their sneakers feature full-grain leather and other fine materials; the main difference is that this time the materials of the shoes are chosen so as to give you the best airflow to help prevent overheating and sweating (which can lead to blisters and heat rash).

Your feet will be kept cool and dry while being perfectly cushioned from the impacts of running and other sports, with features such as Clarks’ XtraFit Technology making sure that the shoe fits you as well as possible. Clark’s sneakers and sports shoes are designed to last, all while making sure that you have the traction needed to stay on your feet long after a lesser shoe would begin to slip and wear.

Of course, these are not the only options that are available to you when shopping for Clark’s shoes. A number of recreational shoes can be found in the Clarks catalog as well, such as the Desert Trek moccasin and the Contact sandal. Both of these recreational shoes are designed to provide you with comfort without being too confining, ensuring that you will be able to enjoy the time that you spend on your feet. The same wonderful workmanship and high-quality leathers go into the construction of Clarks’ sandals and moccasins, giving you an end result of some of the best quality that you’ll find in this type of recreational shoe.

As you can see, Clark’s shoes are as diverse as they are stylish and can be found for almost any situation that you might imagine. You can even find Clarks boots such as the Rider if you are in the market for a high-quality leather boot with a removable shock-absorbing insole. Whatever your footwear needs might be you will not be disappointed when you buy Clarks shoes to meet them. The only question that you may have from that point on is how you ever managed to go so long without wearing Clark’s shoes before.

Monster Amazon Crocs – Why Creative Company Names Work Best

The most common company naming trap is this – creating a new business name that's accurate and descriptive, but utterly forgettable. And it's easy to see how it happens. Unlike real life application, naming is usually done in a vacuum -- with no context, no accompanying logo, website or brochure copy. A group of key decision makers sit in a boardroom and toss names around in the air. And with no supporting cast, no background, no props, the good names often seem disconnected and even ridiculous. It's at this stage the mind wants to make sense of the names; and without context, without supporting elements, it defaults to free associations from the past. This is what kills off many a great brand name.

Imagine a committee looking for a brand name for a new computer company. Someone suggests the word "apple."

"Apple?" the group reacts in shock and bewilderment.

"That makes me think of my mother saying, 'One bad apple spoils the whole bunch,'" one committee member protests.

"It sounds like something fruity to me," claims another. "We can't be perceived as a fruity company!"

"And what about worms that get into the apples," a third member agrees. "And the way they rot, and how the juice gets sticky, and how..."

"All right!" the suggestee apologizes, curling up in a near fetal position, vowing she'll never venture another idea.

And so the group comes to absolute agreement that the name must convey what the company does. So the next set of suggestions seem right on target...

"United Computer Manufacturers"

"General Computer Systems"

"Quality Computer Corporation"

"Superior Computer Builders"

"Global Computer Worldwide"

The closer the committee comes to describing the "what" of the company, the more they become homogenized and blend right into the rest of their industry. They sound more like a business description than a brand name, and in doing so they obscure the very identity they are trying to create. They don't realize that the new company name will exist in a setting that helps define it, so that the name is free to evoke feeling and emotion. An apple is fresh, approachable, healthy, and invigorating. And so a company can borrow on the attributes inherent in a completely unrelated item to convey the way they approach its business.

So if creative company names are so much more memorable and effective than descriptive names, why is it that so many businesses make this basic mistake? In large part it's because we are conditioned from childhood to conform, to be like others, and to follow the leader. As much as we don't like to admit it, most of us would rather follow an established trail than to blaze a new one. One of the first questions I ask potential clients is whether they want their new company name to blend in or to stand out. Most adamantly say they want to stand out, but when stand out names are presented, the red flag goes up.

"I'm not sure," they might say. "These names are unique, but they're so different from anything in our industry."

And so it goes. The names continue to blend in until someone names an airline Virgin instead of Southwest. Or an online job site Monster instead of CareerBuilder. Or a massive online store Amazon instead of Books-a-Million.

Not only are descriptive names less impactful, they are more difficult to visualize. I can picture a Monster, but I have trouble picturing a Career Builder. When it comes to beach shoes, I can imagine a pair of Crocs, but not a pair of Keens. These vivid mental pictures provide yet another way to anchor the brand name in the customer's mind for easier recall.

Creative names are also less restrictive. If you have a purely descriptive name, what happens if your company's core products or services begin to change? How much additional advertising does it require for Burlington Coat Factory to convince customers they sell more than just coats?

Are highly memorable names the only way to go? No. Some small businesses don't have the luxury of a marketing budget and resort to literal names out of short-term necessity. And there are other viable naming strategies that work well. But for those looking to build a brand name that will set them apart, and reserve more space in the customer's mind, then an evocative, memorable name is the way to go. Seth Godin makes a convincing case for memorable company names in his New York Times bestseller, Purple Cow: Transform Your Business By Being Remarkable.

So whether you name a company after a river, a fruit, a dessert, a reptile, or even an odd color bovine, chances are you will, on a minimum, make a name for yourself. And once potential customers notice and remember your company, the rest is up to you. If you do your job well, you'll have a company that's not only memorable, but one that's unforgettable.

Last summer I bought a pair of Crocs and used them at the beach to walk in the surf. I just dug them out?

again, and the color seems to be considerably less vibrant. I haven't worn them since the beach, and they're less than a year old. Does the sea water have this effect? I'm assuming that the salt isn't sticking to them, as I've throughly rinsed them several times. Just want to know for future reference.

Yes, the salt from the salt water will react with the dye used to color the crocs. The dye is typically built into the polymer for the croc's plastic housing and the polymer degrades whenever it is exposed to open ions from the salt water.

The crocs will eventually degrade from prolonged exposure to salt water. Rinsing the crocs in neutral water will slow this process down but not completely stop it.
