Home Decorating Idea - Use a Touch of Red to Add Beauty to your Home

Why use “a touch of red†in your home decorating idea? Red is the warmest of all colors and symbolizes vitality, energy, action and confidence. It makes a bold statement and is, incidentally, the color most chosen by extroverts. This article gives practical tips on using “a touch of red†in your home interior as well as suggestions for using “a touch of red†in various decorating styles.

In feng shui decorating, red is associated with power, love, inspiration and pleasure. Accent colors, such as red, which are more dramatic, are used in moderation, such as a single piece of art work or furniture. The reason is: the more intense the color, the less of it is needed for it to be effective. Thus, use lighter colors for larger areas with accents in more vibrant, dramatic colors. A recent home decorating idea in our home became a reality by using “the touch of red†concept. Window coverings were installed on a series of three windows in the dining area. The coverings consisted of four vertical drapery panels made out of wool tapestry-looking fabric. The background of the fabric is medium tan with subtle red, green and blue flowers. The panels are outlined in a navy/small beige polka-dot fabric. A 6-inch cornice board covered with the same navy fabric completes the look. This window treatment may sound quite “busy†but is very pleasing to the eye.

To complete the home decorating idea of a “touch of red†look in the dining area and because the wool fabric is somewhat bulky, red tassel tie backs were added to the panels. In addition to the tassel tie backs, red was incorporated in the large picture on the dining room wall, in the table centerpiece and in a red chair cover. Another decorating project completed!

WHAT IS A MOTORCROSS GLOVE

The gloves used in the sports of racing over bumpy ground on specially strengthened motorcycles are called motor cross gloves or MX gloves.

Freestyle Motocross (also known as FMX) is a variation on the sport of motor cross gloves in which motorcycle riders attempt to impress judges with jumps and stunts.

The two main types of freestyle events are:

• Big Air (also known as Best Trick), in which each rider gets three jumps — usually covering more than 60 feet (18 m) — from a dirt-covered ramp. A panel of 10 judges evaluates the style, trick difficulty, and use of the course, and produces a score on a 100-point scale. Each rider's highest single-jump score is compared; top score wins.

• Freestyle Motocross, the older of the two disciplines. Riders perform two routines, lasting between 90 seconds and 14 minutes, on a course consisting of multiple jumps of varying lengths and angles that generally occupy one to two acres (.4 to .8 hectares). Like Big Air, a panel of judges assigns each contestant a score based on a 100-point scale, looking for difficult tricks and variations over jumps

The risk of injury is inherent in the sport of motor cross biking, especially in the more extreme disciplines such as downhill biking. Injuries range from relatively minor wounds, such as cuts and abrasions from falls on gravel to serious injuries such as striking the head or spine on a boulder or tree. Protective gear such as motor cross gloves can protect against minor injuries, and reduce the extent or seriousness of major impacts, but it cannot protect a rider against the most serious impacts or accidents.

Gloves intended for motor cross riding usually feature preserved finger sections and the best available protection, obtained through additional armour incorporated within the glove. Although maximum tactility is a noticeable starting point for motor cross gloves, additional protection should not be discarded. Additional protection may involve titanium or carbon panels for knuckles and the joints of the fingers. Furthermore, motor cross  gloves may and often do add in additional wrist and other protection panels to protect the heel of the hand, back of the hand and other easily injured parts of the hand.

These are typical gloves made of leather or textile with Nickel protection covered by Kevlar. Perforated leather is used on fingers and wrist for ventilation. These gloves generally have reinforced palms anticipated better grip and to protect the riders from scratch injuries in case of an accident. These gloves also come with special straps which vary in size from small to 2/L. These gloves are also available in different colors like money green, white, black, navy blue, maroon, yellow, red, burgundy and even interesting colors like charcoal and concrete.

How to clean a grease stain from an overstuffed microfiber (mocha faux suede) lounge chair?

Our 16 lb Lhasa Apso stole three german sausages that were cooling on the counter last night when I turned my back, and blithely ate them all on the beautiful new overstuffed microfiber (faux suede) covered lounge chair. I got a microfiber wash cloth, and some paper towels, and some "orange stuff" and did my best to break up the stains, gently using the cloth, then lightly wiping with clean paper towels...and waited till this a.m. to see how it was. It is better but not completely gone. I'm starting to think along the lines of the old stuff we used to get for grease stains called Energine. I really don't know what to do. Suggestions?

Micro-suede - Information

Suede is a term used to describe leather with a napped finish. Suede leather is made from the under skin of animals like lambs, goats, pigs and deer. Since suede does not include the tough exterior animal skin layer, it has a lower durability but it is softer than standard leather. Due to its properties, Suede finds application in clothing and delicate uses. Suede leather is popular in shoes and upholstery, bags and other accessories. It is also used as a lining material for leather products. The disadvantage of suede is that due to its textured nature and presence of open pores on its surface, it becomes dirty very quickly and may be spoilt if it gets wet. Modern techniques have evolved to make Suede stain-proof and waterproof.

Is there any difference between leather and suede? Which is a better and more comfortable fabric? Which one has a better appearance? We will try to answer these questions here.

Suede and leather actually refer to the same basic material, but the name is applied according to the qualities.

Suede is much softer than leather in texture. Some people thus prefer it over leather. The overall appearance of suede is also more appealing than leather. Because of its s softness and gentleness, suede is less durable than full grain leather. Suede is easily affected by water and other liquid, inclement weather, and other mishaps. Leather, on the other hand, is easy to protect and to clean. When price is taken into consideration, it is found that suede is more expensive than leather. The price differences occur due to suede having a finer appearance and due to the additional time spent to create suede.

When it comes to suede and leather, therefore, it is essentially the same material that is being referred to. The differences in additional production are what account for the different physical characteristics.

Micro-suede is a new micro fiber knit blend fabric which is fast becoming popular. It is made from very fine micro-fibers which are about a hundred times finer than the average human hair. Micro-fibers used, are finer than even silk fibers. These micro-fibers are tightly woven to create a very high quality fabric. The density of the fibers in the fabric provides many desired characteristics that make this ideal for use in making comforter sets.

Micro-suede is also used by furniture manufacturers for their couches and sofas. Customers are ready to pay higher premium for increased comfort which micro-suede cushions and chairs provide. Moreover, when compared to normal suede, micro-suede is easier to clean, and is water resistant. This makes them very good for upholstery. Furniture manufacturers also claim that microsuede is stain resistant and indestructible. This claim has been heavily refuted by users.

Its soft finish and increased stretch makes micro-suede easily distinguishable from normal suede. Common uses of micro-suede are in accessories and shoes. Micro-suede has a lesser durability than suede. Micro-suede as a fabric is gaining popularity among manufacturers due to its properties like softness, stain and resistance and pliability.
